Combine an Americana troubadour with a cocktail of soulful melodies, swampy blues notes, outlaw folk, and serve it up with a side dish of indie grooves, and you get David Karl Roberts — a songwriter who creates a blend of whiskey-soaked Americana.
Roberts has performed in clubs, festivals, and colleges across the east coast as a singer, songwriter, and solo performer and with the bands Love Cactus, The Killer Greens, and Crazy Moonbeam.
Over the years he has been heard as an opening act for legendary touring artists such as Fairport Convention, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Dave Bromberg, Dave Mason (Traffic), Rick Danko (The Band) , Jorma Kaukonen ( Hot Tuna/Jefferson Airplane), as well as alternative rock bands such as Aquarium Rescue Unit, Morphine, Treat Her Right, Percy Hill, Whiskeytown, Jupiter Coyote, Blue Mountain and countless other regional and local acts.
His latest album, The Lost Highway, brings together his acoustic roots with the alternative/indie rock soundtrack that rambles through his mind and out through his guitar strings.
